Visual & UX Design in ATX

Hi, I'm KP, a designer at heart and in practice! I currently lead Amazon Health’s design systems creation and practice from my home in Austin, TX. I moved to in Austin in late 2019 to get a break from the commute and clamor of San Francisco and I have come to enjoy the change of pace, patio living, and warm evenings. I strive for empathy and authenticity in all of my interactions, which extends to my professional work as a product designer. In addition to product design, I have experience in visual design, graphic design, branding, and illustration. I love taking on new challenges and solving the unsolvable in work and in life. I asked a copywriting friend to write a brand manifesto, here's an excerpt:

She is an energetic maelstrom of unapologetic perfectionism, of tireless enthusiasm, and of unrestrained spirit who adds zest, zeal and zip to every project fortunate enough to come her way.

I blend my creativity, empathy, and curiosity into practice by listening to users, designing delightful & easy-to-use experiences. I have led countless mvps and 2.0’s from idea to launch and I work best in challenging, complex problem-solving environments. My eagerness to solve complex problems has led me to work in cultural heritage, video streaming, employee management, and most recently healthcare. I have presented at over 30 international workshops and worked with people from all backgrounds, from Aboriginal Elders, to Physicians, and Silicon Valley Tech Bros.

When I'm not working and traveling, I love transforming my environment into beautiful and functional places to spend time in and nourish my community. I relish in the sense of accomplishment which comes from envisioning something new, researching and planning how to create it, learning new skills to do it myself, and finally finishing it and enjoying the fruit of my labor with loved ones. Bringing things to life feels like magic! Which is why you’ll find me gardening, woodworking, painting, baking, and knitting in my free time.
